For the last several years, I’ve been involved with the Full Moon Bike Ride in Oklahoma City. The ride happens every month from April through November on each full moon and is hosted by the Myriad Botanical Gardens. This entire even was designed to support cycling and health in one of the most unhealthy cities in this country as well as raise money for the MBG foundation.
FUN FACT: Oklahoma City is the fast food capital of the world. We’re the test market for all the processed crap you can find in a drive-thru!
The last couple of years, the event has gotten even bigger by including a running portion. The run starts first while the cyclists are gathering, then the bikes go off 30 minutes later. As a member of the Schlegel Bicycles Ambassador Team, we help guide the ride and provide any support needed.
The best part about this event is that it includes everyone. It doesn’t matter what level of rider you are, old, young, gender, or whether you’re an alien from Mars! If you can ride a bike, you’re in. If you don’t have a bike, rent a Spokie and come join. I promise you’ll have a fun time riding with about 400 of your closest friends!
When: See the event above! But come on out tonight if you’re a last minute kind of person.
Where: Myriad Botanical Gardens, downtown Oklahoma City
Why: Because it’s fun and we can all use a little exercise
