This morning I saw this statement on NewsOk.com?
Oklahoma is the seventh most religious state in the union, according to the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life.
Sixty-nine percent of Oklahomans in a recent poll said that religion is very important in their lives, Pew reported.
Six other southern states outranked Oklahoma, led by Mississippi, with 82 percent saying religion is very important in their lives. Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee and South Carolina also ranked higher than Oklahoma.
All of the states on that list are some of the poorest in the country. Alabama and Mississippi are truly the worst in the nation. Louisiana doesn’t fall far behind. Education in all of those states is horrible. If you ranked total education, I would guarantee yo u that OK, AR, LA, TN, SC, MS, and AL are in the bottom 10.
Here’s what’s interesting – there’s a direct correlation between education level and religious belief. The more educated, the less likely you are to believe in that voodoo. The less educated, the more likely you use that as your crutch.
By the way, where’s Jesus now? Shouldn’t he be turning farmland into twenty dollar bills or something? Seems he’s truly missing from their impoverished lives. Oh wait, I guess he’s too busy with Tim Tebow!
