Today I was sitting on the toilet thinking about my next blog post and…..  What?  Bad image in your head now?  Well, welcome to Left Of Sean.

As I was saying….

I started thinking about Facebook and some of the good, and bad, things it has brought us.  I’ve reconnected with lots of old friends and I’m grateful for that.  I found new friends that I never would have known without Facebook.

Since we lived through an election cycle with Facebook, we also got to see which of our friends are real idiots and which ones are intelligent.  There’s a fine line, trust me.

I think has been the greatest contribution by Facebook is that it has introduced us to so many ridiculous Facebook Groups.

There are millions of them.  I really noticed them during the election.  But now they’re just stupid.  And the ridiculousness of the groups provides lots of blog fodder.

Some of my favorite groups are the ones that hate the new Facebook layout.  I couldn’t even tell you how many there are; dozens, if not hundreds.  I think it’s really funny that not one of those groups has actually made the leadership at Facebook change the layout back the way it was.  Come to think of it, I don’t think ONE Facebook group has actually changed anything.

Some cause rises out of the ashes and people think they need to start a Facebook group.  I can’t imagine how many groups have started in support of the rescue efforts in Haiti.  Seriously, how many of you thought it would be a great idea to join the group and then you never looked at the group page again?  How many of you even remember you joined the group?

I have a feeling that creating a Facebook group is just a narcissistic ploy to see how many members you can get to follow whatever it is you started.  I just did a quick search on Facebook for groups that contain the phrase Facebook Groups and came up with one of the best:

When I’m Super Bored, I Go On Facebook And Join Tons Of Pointless Groups Group

I think I’ll start one named Facebook Made Me Stupid!

I would say that I’d report back here to give you the results of the membership but it will probably lower my IQ so much I’ll forget…
